What the Critics Say
In Dub features dub versions of tracks the U.K. production team of Mafia & Fluxy created for Jamaican lovers rock crooner Gregory Isaacs for his "comeback" (with some 500 songwriting credits to his name and seemingly as many albums, it's difficult to see how Isaacs would even have time to make a comeback, since he's never taken time off from recording in his three-plus-decade career in the first place) albums with them, Open the Door and Hold Tight. Mixed by Gussie P., these are fairly midtempo and mellow dubs, and stripped of most of Isaacs' lead vocals (a few vocalizations remain), they seem particularly ephemeral, which is probably a good thing in the world of dub, and there are enough sonic surprises here to make this set certainly worth a late-night spin. ~ Steve Leggett, All Music Guide
